A long-term
project, but with a fantastic result. We had the honour of developing a
lighting plan for the completely new showroom of Dupont Bathrooms in Ypres. The
ground floor houses the warehouse with a number of offices and a
multifunctional room. The first floor serves as the showroom, which is divided
into different boxes. You will be completely immersed in different styles and
possibilities for the bathroom.
A major entrance
Literally
and figuratively. When you enter the building, the large Times frames
immediately catch your eye. These were custom-made to give a nice fill to the
large and high space. The modern line was extended to the reception and
checkout area. There we proposed black 3-phase tracks with a combination of
grid LED lines and Mero pendant lights. The LED lines provide sufficient light
and the pendant lamps create a cosy atmosphere. The perfect match.
Next to the
entrance hall, the architect provided a multipurpose room. This can serve as a
meeting room or meeting space during events. Here, too, black tracks with Mero spotlights were chosen as general lighting. The tracks match the industrial
style of the room. Above the table, Mero suspended lamps are used as accent
lighting. We always provide different types of luminaires within one
collection. This has the advantage that we can always create harmony and
coherence in our projects.
Shop window lighting with Bluetooth technology
We
installed Mero tubes on the ceiling of the shop windows on both floors. These
have an integrated Casambi module, a Bluetooth controller. With Casambi, you
can connect to your luminaires via an app on your phone or tablet. That way,
you can create preset scenes for any time of day. For this project, it was
important to create a certain atmosphere in the building at night as well. This
way, the building and the showroom attract the attention of passers-by even
after opening hours.
As the
ceilings in the showroom are lower than on the ground floor, the ceiling
lighting in the showroom was equipped with a wider beam. Thus, from the
outside, there is no noticeable difference between the ground floor and the
upper floor.
White tracks in the showroom
In contrast
to the ground floor, we opted for white tracks in the showroom. Since the
tracks with Mero spotlights serve as general lighting, they should not draw all
the attention. White tracks are more discreet and less conspicuous, which was
the right choice for this showroom.
The fact
that customisation is in our blood is again evident in this project. At the
customer's request, small adjustments were made to the spotlights to suit the
project. For instance, the tube is slightly longer than the spotlights in our
standard range. Everything was tested beforehand and discussed with the
customer for approval. A service that we at psmlighting are happy to offer for

Homely atmosphere
The
showroom was expertly divided into different boxes to introduce customers to
the versatile styles for their new bathroom. In those boxes, it was therefore
important to create a realistic and homely atmosphere. This way, the customers
can immediately imagine what it would look like at home. To do this, we used Nora AC recessed spotlights for direct lighting and recessed LED lines for subtle and
indirect lighting.
Not only
our lighting creates a familiar feeling in the boxes. Our Cascade bathroom accessories can also be found in a number of set-ups. It’s all about the
details.
Eye-catchers in the showroom
When you
enter the showroom via the stairwell, the large circles in the void immediately
attract attention. These circles are not available as standard in our range and
we only offer them for large projects. Thus, a small touch of exclusivity was
also added to this project.
Besides the
stairwell, the bar was also given an important role in the design. There, the
aim is to have pleasant conversations with customers so that they immediately
feel at ease. Of course, it is also at the bar that the start of great projects
and collaborations is celebrated. So the bar had to radiate cosiness and
warmth. That atmosphere is created by a dynamic combination of Manon pendant lamps in different sizes. The finish in red copper gives a luxurious touch and
perfectly matches the warm wood of the bar cabinets.
